Marlin 2020 Internship Applications Are OPEN

We’re excited to announce that our 2020 Summer Internship Applications are now open!

Are you considering a career in the world of Public Relations and keen to learn more? Do you love writing, social media or presenting ideas and concepts? Do you have a passion for technology, from AI to smartphones? If any of these areas pique your interest, the Marlin Internship Programme could present an exciting opportunity for your career direction.

At Marlin we run a paid intern programme every summer and are proud to say nearly 25% of our team has joined us through internships.

We’re excited to now be opening applications for our 2020 Intern Programme and have paid one-month placements available in July.

The internship offers a brilliant opportunity to gain first-hand experience in a dynamic, creative and fast-paced PR agency, working with some of the most exciting technologies on the planet - from Slack, Asana and Prezi, to Crowdstrike, Gravity Industries and Xiaomi.

Here’s a snapshot of some of the experiences our interns have had here at Marlin;

  • “I came away with an understanding of what the PR industry has to offer and a sense of Marlin's work culture, making me excited about the prospect of working in PR." Im Hazelton, Account Executive (2019 intern)
  • “I felt welcomed by everyone and having a full day of activities felt less daunting than the traditional individual interview” Ralitsa Petrova, Account Executive (2019 intern)
  • “While the day is structured to support you and give you the best chance to demonstrate your skills, you’ll always have the chance to show your personality and build some relationships with the team.” Charlie Kahn, Account Executive (2019 intern)
  • "For me, the teamship and creativity I experienced on the day, set the tone for the rest of the intern programme and my life at Marlin today” Jasmine Black, Senior Account Executive (2018 intern)
  • “The internship exposes you to the day-to-day tasks involved with being part of the Marlin team, and will challenge your organisation and creativity in equal measure.” Jack Dixon, Senior Account Executive (2018 intern)
  • “Everyone puts in the effort to get to know you whether that is over a tea in the kitchen or a drink down at the local. The team at Marlin supports you as you learn while also encouraging you to have an opinion and make suggestions” Scarlett Rowley, Senior Account Executive (2018 intern)
  • “My internship at Marlin converted an interest in PR into a passion for PR. I instantly felt part of the fold and that the work I was doing mattered. I’m forever grateful that I was able to kick start my career at a place like Marlin.” Charlotte Sexton, Account Director (2015 intern)

Interns will be exposed to the dynamic world of PR and Communications with an abundance of opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge, alongside some of the best talent in the industry.

And to top that off, we have permanent positions to offer to the most successful interns – starting from August.

Here’s what we are looking for:

  • Graduates (ideally in the field of PR/communications and/or English but we welcome applications for any graduates with a keen interest in PR, media, communications and innovative technology)
  • Confident, articulate communicators
  • Passionate about technology, business and comms
  • Positive energy, passion, attitude and a drive to achieve your true potential, and beyond
  • Strong writers and demonstrable analytical thinking
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as social media
  • Any experience in data analytics, video editing, photoshop and editing tools is a bonus

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be:

  • Available for the full month of July
  • Free to join a selection day in London on Wednesday 22nd April
  • Able to start work from August

How to apply:

Step one: CV & Video Pitch

We’re passionate about innovative tech. From cutting edge smartphones to AI in the workplace to cybersecurity developments - everyone at Marlin has their own passion for technology. Now we want to know - what’s yours? Through a short video of yourself talking to camera tell us about a technology that has emerged in the last 5 years that you are excited about and why (don’t overthink it - we’re open to your interpretation of this). Your video should be no longer than 1.5 minutes. No frills - just talking into the lens.

Send this and your CV to [email protected] by Friday 3rd April

Shortlisted candidates will hear from us by Thursday 9th April with a formal invitation to our selection day.

Step two: Selection Day

Shortlisted applicants will be asked to come and join us for an Intern Selection Day at our offices in London on Wednesday 22nd April. The day will be a fun, challenging and invigorating combination of creative challenges, hands-on tasks and analytical tests designed to put you through your paces in some real-world comms scenarios. You will meet a broad range of experts from across the agency and get a brilliant flavour for Marlin - who we are, how we operate and what makes us all tick.

Step three: Finalists

Successful applicants will be informed by Friday 1st May and booked in for their internships! Due to high numbers of applicants, we cannot respond to everyone so if you haven’t heard back from us by then I’m afraid you were unsuccessful at this stage.

What you will gain

  • Hands-on experience of all elements of PR – from creative brainstorming to media relations, content creation, event support and research & reporting - and a window into the frontline of technology
  • Enhanced CV
  • Learning from some of the best PR talent in the industry!
  • Role-specific training and on the job experience
  • Proficiency in monitoring tools and media databases

We can’t wait to hear from you!
