Catawiki’s Jeans for Refugees

The Brief

Build big bold consumer awareness of Catawiki’s innovative online marketplace outside of their usual niche audience of collectors and auction hobbyists.

The Solution

Work with celebrity fashion designer, Johnny Dar, to auction 100 pairs of re-designed celebrity jeans to help raise funds for the International Refugee Committee and support the plight of millions of refugees around the world.

The Impact

The campaign was covered in over 800 publications across the globe, with over one billion in PR reach. 97% of coverage appeared in national print, TV, radio and consumer lifestyle media. 62% of celebrity tweets and Instagram posts included link to the Catawiki auction.

Catawiki went from 27,000 items auctioned weekly in July 2016, when the JFR campaign launched, to 35,000 items auctioned weekly by November 2016. It achieved an average of 22,000 unique visits to website each month of the campaign – with 50% of those being completely new users

We helped raise over 350,000 EUR for the International Rescue Committee.
