NAB, Las Vegas, April 2010: Today at NAB, Sony Professional is demonstrating its ability to deliver powerful solutions to customers by showcasing an array of innovative tools for ingest, production, post production, archive and storage applications. With its stand based around the theme “Solutions To Believe In,” Sony reaffirms its position as the leading expert in delivering 3D live production, drawing on examples of its recent pioneering work with customers including Telegenic and AMP.

While many suppliers are currently developing live 3D solutions, Sony holds a unique position in the market by being the only provider capable of supplying a complete end-to-end solution for capturing live 3D content. As part of Sony’s global commitment to 3D, visitors to the Sony stand at NAB can see some of the latest products which are designed to eradicate the barriers of live 3D production, including new professional 3D monitors and the highly acclaimed MPE-200 3D Processor Box.

Sony will further strengthen its focus on solutions with the delivery of Media Backbone, a group of solutions aimed at facilitating the management and control of media workflow within a file-based architecture. The Media Backbone includes a range of hardware and software products to support the file-based operating needs of the media and broadcast market.

Commenting on this solutions strategy, David Bush. Director of Marketing, Sony Professional said: “Sony has played a leading role in the transition from AV to file-based workflow and now the focus for many organisations is on effective workflow management which is where our Media Backbone solution fits. Our workflow capabilities are also helping us make big steps this year to lead

the 3D revolution and provide live production customers in particular with the tools they need to deliver a quality 3D viewing experience to their audiences. Through our breadth of choice and ability to offer bespoke solutions, we are committed to helping customers turn their 3D aspirations into reality,” explained David Bush, Director of Marketing Sony Professional.

Sony Professional shows continued innovation in its XDCAM EX camcorder product range by announcing the PMW-320. This memory-based shoulder-mount camcorder builds on the success of the PMW-350 and redefines quality with all-new 1/2inch Exmor CMOS sensors. With over 130,000 units sold worldwide, the XDCAM family range continues to be the global format broadcast professionals rely on. NAB also sees Sony launch the new HXR-MC50E an ultra compact camcorder that combines the simplicity and usability of a traditional consumer camcorder with the look and feel of a professional model.

At the cutting edge of monitor technology, Sony Professional announced the world’s first 7 inch professional OLED monitor. The PVM-740 is a high-resolution portable monitor which incorporates Sony’s unique Super Top Emission technology to deliver a stunning image performance which is superior to traditional CRT monitors.

At NAB, Sony is showing its newest addition to its switcher range by announcing the MVS-8000X, a groundbreaking high-end switcher suitable for 1080p and 3D production. Sales continue to be strong throughout the MVS product range with an installer base of over 2100 units across Europe.
