Marlin Announces New Studio, Brand And Website

It’s been almost ten years since Marlin was founded, and to celebrate, we’re so excited to be announcing some big changes to our brand, website and partnerships.

The heart and soul of our agency remains exactly the same – and our pursuit of better for ourselves, our clients, and the world around us will not change. Rather, we hope these new announcements will add to and develop our identity, so that we’re facing the future with a renewed sense of purpose.

The first of these is a new and exciting brand identity – distilled primarily in our updated website. Both have been created to visually represent all things we are and that we believe. We hope it also demonstrates all the things that make Marlin a unique team to partner with.

The second announcement is a brand new content hub in the beating heart of our agency. Marlin Studio will be working across all of our clients to craft copy, design imagery and create amazing video content that we feel will be a real game-changer for our clients.

And the final announcement is arguably the most exciting and impactful of the three – and it’s that we will be working with charitable P2P lending platform Deki to invest in under-funded entrepreneurs in sub-Saharan Africa.

So – all round, we’re entering an exciting new chapter here at Marlin. Here’s a bit more detail…

Brand

Our lead designer Kilo Kennard has put together new brand guidelines that represent who we are and what our outlook is.

The main design principle is space – we wanted an uncluttered feel to represent clarity of thought and action. This is represented visually by the frequent use of negative space to allow the design elements to breathe, a primarily black and white colour scheme, and by clean, sans serif fonts.

Then the logo itself is Gotham typeface, punctuated by a raised, neon green i.

The i represents the beginning of our In Pursuit Of Better mindset, and is designed to depict a computer node, in reference to our agency’s focus on innovative technologies. It is also an important nod to the individuals that make up this agency and the individuals that drive our clients.

Our new brand colour, neon green, is in part a reference to our original branding, but it’s been updated and refined to look brighter and more distinctive.

Website

The build of our new website was handled entirely in-house by the new studio team.

Its design was built entirely around the new guidelines – we hope you’ll love it as much as we do.

Marlin Studio

The last 12 months have seen significant growth here at Marlin, and we want that to continue over the next year and beyond.

One of the ways we hope to achieve this is by catering to the demand our clients have for high-quality content. So we’ve set up our own in-house hub, Marlin Studio.

The team is led by Head of Studio Dan Freedman, a former BBC journalist and producer, who specialises in video content production, as well as media training for broadcast.

Then Digital Director Tom Edwards is a former online journalist who specialises in digital strategy, and worked for The Sun and The Telegraph. He joined us from The Academy, where he created campaigns for major international clients across the UK and Europe.

And Kilo Kennard, our lead designer, has been with the business for the last five years – she’ll be continuing the excellent work she’s already been doing across our client base.

The team has a huge array of expertise across video, image and written content production, as well as in design, digital strategy and media buying.

We’re delighted to have them on board and look forward to seeing the work they’ll be putting together throughout 2018 and beyond.

Partnership

Our belief here at Marlin is that we are in the pursuit of better not just for ourselves and our clients, but also the world around us. For this reason, we’re also announcing a partnership with Deki, the innovative P2P lending platform that helps entrepreneurs in sub-Saharan Africa who would have no other access to funding.

We will be investing the equivalent of 1% of our salaries on the platform, and hope to manage and grow the fund over time to make a real impact on the lives and prospects of an ever increasing number of fledgling businesses.

This is important to everyone here at Marlin, because we believe the ideas of purpose and meaning are central to what it is to be good people and what it is to run a great business.

We’re going to be rolling out all of these changes over the coming days – so if you like what you see, please go ahead and get in touch to find out more.
